Children First is a private, charitable, non-profit organization that serves over 600 of Sarasota County's most vulnerable children, birth to five years of age, and their families. Services are provided at multiple locations throughout Sarasota County. Our mission is to strengthen children and families by improving the quality of their lives through a comprehensive approach to development, education, health and well-being.
At the Loveland Center, our mission is to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their lives to the fullest. We provide life skills development programs that promote daily life skills such as self-care and personal development, improve independent living skills such as money management, community access, and home management, and strengthen employment skills that can lead to building a successful career, thereby leading to increased independence and self-reliance.
Special Olympics - Sarasota
The mission of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
Suncoast Charities for Children
Suncoast Charities for Children is a 501(c)(3) that provides funding support to the Suncoast Foundation which over the years has constructed area facilities valued at over $20 Million. These facilities are located in North Port, Venice, and Sarasota and last year provided services to approx. 5,000 special needs children, teens, adults and their families. Net proceeds raised from special events and donations help maintain some of these aging facilities and support special project requests.
The Florida Center for Early Childhood
The Florida Center for Early Childhood is a nationally accredited nonprofit organization providing an array of comprehensive therapeutic services, clinical interventions, prevention and early education programming for children and families. We provide prevention and early intervention services to young children and their families, at risk for academic, social, and economic failure. Because of this, our young children achieve developmentally appropriate milestones and parents have the support and knowledge to nurture their child's development; which decreasing risk factors related to child abuse and neglect, academic and developmental delay, and behavioral and mental health disorders that create added costs to society.
The Haven offers programs and services for adults and children with disabilities to enhance quality of life by encouraging independence, championing inclusion and advocating for their individual rights. Together, we can create a world where people with disabilities are included and celebrated for who they truly are - talented and incredible human beings.
